Blessing in Disquise!
At 61 Dan Sr. lost his job and couldn’t find another due to a variety of health problems. When his savings ran out and he was faced with sleeping in his pickup, he thought of Muskegon Rescue Mission-the place where his son was finding so much hope.
In our May issue of Harbor Light, we told you about Dan Jr. and how unemployment and homelessness gave him an opportunity for a completely fresh start, thanks to you. Dan Sr. wondered if he enrolled too, could the finally reconnect? The answer, praise God, is yes!
“My biggest challenge is doing all the homework,” Dan Sr. explains. “I haven’t sat in a classroom since high school. I’m starting all over again, pushing a pencil.” But Dan Jr. is right there cheering him on. “We encourage each other to do the homework,” Dan Sr. says.
Looking ahead, Dan Sr. is praying for better health so he can support himself again. And his restored relationship with his son gives him hope that someday, they will also be reunited with his two daughters. For right now, “My son and I try to spend quite a bit of time together here,” strengthening their new bond.
